A few days ago, some happy customers were aboard the S.S. Coachella cruise, the Goldenvoice-promoted music festival by sea, and according to the reports, it was rather an episode of the love boat. Everybody was hanging out with the music stars, Jarvis Cocker was spotted at the food buffet, Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss was decorating people’s nails, Grimes led an afternoon round of Bingo and James Murphy had a wine tasting event!
But among different activities, a discussion panel attended by many Goldenvoice founders, staffers and other music obsessives revealed a few things: First of all, they said they received enough ticket requests to support more than four weekends of Coachella! But so far they plan to limit the giant festival to 2 weekends. Secondly, they mentioned their wish list for Coachella: David Bowie, Talking Heads, Iron Maiden and the Smiths! Good luck at booking any of these acts but Paul Tollett noted they were trying every year to get the Smiths as they offered them $5 million last time! one last thing regarding the music cruise itself, they weren’t sure about its future despite its apparent success.
Oh well, are we gonna see more Coachella weekends in the not-so-distant future? One way or another, we will, they bought the land, so there is no reason why Goldenvoice would stop there.
