That Was the Week That was: November 24th, 2014

we are them
we are them

National: Let’s see here, an 18 year old black kid has a fight with a white policeman, punches him through an open or closed window, runs away, is told to stop, turns back from ten feet away and gets shot six time, twice in the head, dies of course, and the Grand Jury chooses not to indict the cop. Meanwhile, my white friends “are so over Ferguson”. RIP Michael brown. Now the country erupts in protests just the way it should.

Live: Bob Dylan’s terrific set at the Beacon Theatre had me seriously considering going for a second look and only money stopped me in my tracks!

Recorded: Eminem, Faith Evans, David Guetta, all excellent, and Simple Minds? Their best album since forever. But the three new and three remixed songs on Beyonce are something else again: they maintain an album which needed nothing to maintain it.

Sports: Let’s not and say we did. This looks like the season where, with the possible exception of New York Liberty, not one team makes the playoffs.

Thanksgiving: Listen, Pilgrim, if the British army had just broken formation…

Weather: Cold.
