That Was The Week That Was: December 15th, 2014

Please release me...
Please release me…

week 51:

Recorded: The rush release of D’Angelo’s long awaited album Black Messiah and the leak of the 2015 Madonna album Rebel Heart, both good neither great, are the stories of week 51. I am not precisely disappointed in either of them, and Madonna peaks sky high with “Living For Love” but neither of them are zeitgeist changing or even particularly moment defining the way Beyonce was last year.

Live: If you add Billy Joe Shaver’s age to Bob Seger’s age you get 144 and that’s a lot of experience and some of it paid off and some of it didn’t when I caught them at separate gigs last week.

Sports: The Mets and Yankees didn’t make the playoffs (how don’t you make them is the real question here), the Jets and Giants won’t make the playoffs and the Nets and Knicks won’t make the playoff. The Knicks record for the year is 5 -24, the worst in franchise history.

Movies: perhaps the guardians of peace can hack into mockingjay 2 and save us from that abomination while they’re at it.

Weather: Apparently it will be in the 50s for Christmas.
