Week 37:

Sports: J-E-T-S Jets Jets. Yes, folks that’s the way to start the season. Despite it being at home, despite it being against marshmallow Oakland Raiders with a rookie QB, despite all those errors and lost yards, despite everything you care to say, a win is a win and the way to start the proceedings. PS The Giants haven’t played yet as I write this

Recorded: The week belongs to Half Japanese, the superbly moving and overjoyed ode to true love by the old punk band, this is a great noise and a terrific band at their peak. So cool, yeah I dig.

Live: I caught two shows, both were very good. Bleachers were a New jersey dream band and so were Titus Andronicus and both nodded in the vague direction of Mecca or Springsteen. The Buzzcocks only looked to themselves.

Politics: May I just say I think Obama is a great president. He never gets his reaction wrong. Do you think ISIS want to hear Obama say how they don’t matter much and he just wants to marginalize em and put them to sleep, or act as though they are Russia and how they will be wiped off the face of the earth? Which one helps ISIS do you think. Of course, melodramatic TV watching USA doesn’t want to hear cool competence, they want blood and of course, Obama was forced to offer it. But he is too smart to believe it. Chop off their head and leave them to wither and die like they mean nothing to a great nation, that’s what he should have said and that’s what he said.

Death: Joan Rivers will be missed, she was a funny tough woman. And goodbye to Simone Battle, the GRL singer killed herself at the age of 25.
