Week 33:
Recorded: Consensus opinion is Spoon delivered the goods and for sure this is their best song to date, so good their Summerstage gig on September 10th is looking better and better except, given the type of venue and the type of band, I am not sure I can take the audience again. The new Al Jarreau is terrific.
Live: All three sets I caught, Dickey Betts, Modest Mouse and Brand New were very good. But is that enough. Yeah, though I will say one sthing, the older audience was more into it and in a better way than the youngsters were. Meanwhile, only 13 months till 5 Seconds Of Summer.
Sports: I went to Saturday’s game at Yankee Stadium and watched the Yanks sleep walk through a 0 -3 smackdown by the Indians. $23 for a small coke, cheese fries and a burger. Ever get the feeling you’re being taken?
Politics: The symbol of New York the terrible is back: the squeegee men are back. You know, the homeless hucksters who stand by the bridges and “clean” your windshield with a dirty rag till you pay them to go away. If we have to return to the bad old days, why not topless shoeshiners?
Summer: Already closing time approaches and what a glorious summer it has been, warm not hot, only four days hit the 90sĀ and there was something so call and unoppressiveness … unless you lived in Gaza of course.
