Local: As we count down to the de Blasio era, it is worth noting that while stop and frisk may well be racist and discriminatory, between 2001 and 2012 the City’s incarceration rate has now fallen by 36 percent, while at the same time, the national incarceration rate grew three percent. If that’s Bloomberg’s legacy it is a great one.
Recorded: As quiet as humanly possible in the music world, the only new release I found came out on December 17th and was recorded 50 years earlier: the Beatles Bootleg Recordings 1963. Now, we all have better versions tan this elsewhere (except I don’t have a Beatles “Bad To Me” which includes a terrific McCartney back up vocal and “I Love You”) but who cares just because its Christmas.
Live: A quiet week everywhere, but Phish and Disco Biscuits both began their run up to 2014 and I saw one of em!
National: Christmas comes but once a year and once a year for one day only, the world takes a nap while they celebrate… the birth of Christ? Well, some do and more power to em. “Peace on Eatth,” dude.
Sports – Ha -that’s a joke. There is a chance not one local team will make the playoffs, which essentially let anybody with a pulse and a purse in, this season.
