Recorded: Not the worst week of music by a long shot, M.I.A., Eminem, Mellowhigh, and the Extra David Bowie were all pretty terrific Even Luscious Jackson made a welcome return to the fray with an album that is shockingly wonderful and fun. The 1990s indie band reformed in 2011 and just released their first new album and it is really great. I know I’m gonna forget about it but I hope you don’t.
Live: I got so caught up reviewing Justin Timberlake that I forgot the Weeknd, who was very good. Much livelier and involved than he is on the record. Otherwise all I saw this week was two concerts so the cut back is in full effect.
National: Apparently, you can’t become President, or, for that matter, Secretary Of State, without trying to bring the Palestinians and Israelis together. Right now it is John Kerry’s turn and given Obama’s standing with the Israeli’s it should be an even bigger waste of time than usual. Meanwhile, it appears that Yasser Arafat was poisoned? By who? The PLO? Iran? Israel? The States? Why, all of them of course.
Local: Bill di Blasio will be the Mayor of nyc come 2013 and expect blood in the streets and huge tax increases… according to the New York Post. Plus, if you are shot, forget getting into a hospital because all the layabouts with insurance will be filling the beds.
Sports: Giants keep on winning, and will probably just enough to not be a factor in the playoffs and drop in the draft pick sweepstakes. Meanwhile, the Nets are disappointing and the Knicks aren’t disappointing mostly because we all expected them to suck.
