The film 'School of Rock' has to be one of my favorite movies. Not a top 10 but up there in the list of things I would watch more than once. Jack Black played the loser rocker with incredible charisma. He's a pretty funny guy.
After that he was everywhere. So, of course, I got annoyed with him. Black's alter ego Tenacious D disappeared when Black was oversaturating the airwaves. But now TD is back
Jack Black and Kyle Gass are back and have recorded a new album, "We recorded down and dirty in a friend’s garage with a shoestring budget of 600 dollars, much like Nirvana’s first album Bleach – or the Beatles first album Help. Rough and yet a masterpiece,” Tenacious D humbly said about the Rize of the Fenix. The band added that because the duo’s 2006 movie “Pick Of Destiny” wasn’t a smash hit at the box office, the making of the new album was a “journey similar to that of Gandolph in The Lord of the Rings.”
To support this they'll tour some festials including Sasquatch and SXSW. Since some of us are not that keen on the mega fests, great news is according to an announcement on the band’s website, more U.S. dates will be announced including stops in Nashville, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York City, Detroit, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
Every teenage boy on Earth can recite TD lyrics. That's a good indication of the type of humour this 'band' delivers.
