Saturday was incredibly busy at Randall’s Island, a complete sell out from one end of the Island to the other with young kids, mostly college sophomores by the looks of it, planting themselves on every available inch of green. But the lineup wasn’t as good as Friday’s line up
You should go to Festivals the same way you listen to music in 2014, sample all the goods and then research further. Even bands you really wanna see, headliners Outkast for instance, this might not be the best way to check em out. You’d have to give up too much and wait too long (I figure 90 minutes) to get really great sitelines. That would be, wow, at least four sets.
Soooo, now we can finally the Governors Ball festival at a glance (see below) let’s see how the long weekend works out. One thing is for sure, it is an easy way to catch a lot of bands you wanna watch and the only fESTIVAL YOU CAN TAKE THE SUBWAY HOME FROM!
Friday is a wash out, Outkast’s take Kanye’s position as the finishing end and Saturday is somewhere in the middle. Okay, I’m overstating. Some folks haven’t seen Vampire Weekend three times in twelve months
So sure you’re going to Governor’s Ball and the weather is kind, then this is some line up . It is a lot of heavy digging done quickly and since the action is in I the bottle of middle, you can spend all day without necessarily spending all night
I would have bought a ticket on presale Tuesday morning if I could’ve but it was sold out and now I’ve seen the line up I am far from thrilled I must say
Loser – Governor’s Ball – What are these guys thinking of? After the disastrous early June Randall’s Island festival last year, with Friday a complete disaster (Best Coast best quote: “This fucking sucks”), and a doubling up on the headliner on Saturday which lead to overcrowding plus a nightmare of mud and ruined shoes, they have the audacity to try it again in 2014
Gov’s Ball line up was something else last year, from GNR and KoL to, yes folks, the first appearance of Kanye and his Yeezus. Along with the best of many genres (ecept country) including folk, indie and EDM . Alt-J, the xx and Icona Pop, garcy Clarke Jn, Fucked Up and Best Coast… outrageously excellent line up. So, yeah, sight unseen I’d go again.
