How did he miss it, exactly?

The Mets came, saw and fell apart handing the World Series to the Royals on a platter of unforced errors. This one should haunt Mets fans for years to come, except… well, they all haunt Mets fans for years to come, don’t they? Meanwhile, the Knicks are off to a good start, Ryan injured himself and Geno failed to help the Jets, and Eli Manning through six touchdowns and still failed to win.

Wow, is this depressing or what? The Mets bloody won and when DeGrom gave up those two runs, I could have sworn it was only a matter of time but there you go. Now the Mets are in and the Yanks are doing their very best Derek Jeter impression -meaning, retired. It was a good guy and a good series. Now, let’s see what they have left. For sure, they need more hitting but that’s playoff baseball for you.

These Days: Tuesday, October 13th. 2015

After Utley’s controversial block of Ruben Tejada on Saturday, the scene was set for the 3rd game of the NLDS, a slugfest wherein the Mets battered the Dodgers -the story and Matt Harvey forgot to bring his A Game -the non story because they won was Matt Harvey’s iffy performance. Giving up three runs at the top of the second. The Mets win today and they move on.

The next two New York ballgames are at 830pm and the first two Mets playoff gaes are past 9om, begging an answer to the question: who is going to, you know, actually see them. 3 Years ago my Sunday’s were all sorted during the footballs season, Giants and Jets 1p to 7pm followed by 60 Minutes and topped off by the Simpsons. In 2015m I might as well go to the movies on a Sunday afternoon.

The New York Mets take the National League East Division for the first time since 2006, and while congratulations to all, mostly congratulations to some great trades at the halfway mark. Meanwhile, look for the Yanks to play the Rangers on October 6th. Why? Because they sat pat when they needed more arms. Congrats to Sandy Alderson.

People claim this is an important series, Mets Vs Yankees, but my friend Ben Buchwald claims otherwise. The Mets have the division sown up and home field advantage isn’t worth wearing out their players, and the Yanks have Wild card in pocket and don’t stand much of a chance of taking the division. So fun? Perhaps. Important? Not so fast.

Murder isn’t baseball, Denis Hamill claimed in the New York Daily News today, it isn’t a staticians game. Essentially telling us all to sit down and stop fretting. Perhaps, but homeless men with machetes attacking defenseless women in Bryant Park is rife with symbolism. And if murder was baseball, New York City has transitioned from the 2000 Yankees to the 2000 Mets, and that is far enough or we will be the 2014 Yankees before we know it.

I dragged myself to Citi Field and froze myself to death in order to watch the Mets win their seventh in a row, now up to eighth as I write. Impressed? You will be…

That Was The Week Of June 2nd, 2014, That Was

Old 97’s and Lydia Loveless failed to change the world on Tuesday, though they were both pretty good, still it ended up being the weekend of Governors Ball and with weather to dream for I dashed from one great gig to another and was sure the better for it. You gotta try it out next year, the only Festival you can grab the subway home from.
