New York: Murder isn’t baseball, Denis Hamill claimed in the New York Daily News today, it isn’t a staticians game. Essentially telling us all to sit down and stop fretting. Perhaps, but homeless men with machetes attacking defenseless women in Bryant Park is rife with symbolism. And if murder was baseball, New York City has transitioned from the 2000 Yankees to the 2000 Mets, and that is far enough or we will be the 2014 Yankees before we know it.

Gay Rights: To boil down Judge Scalia’s dissenting opinion on Gay Marriage: Yanks were doing very well deciding whether it was legal or not. They didn’t need the Supreme Court butting in.Why do all people get a vote on one person’s sexuality? Being Gay isn’t a right given by anyone, it is the sexuality of a person and it occurs in all species. No, the American People do not have the right to vote on gay marriage any more than they have the right to vote on blue eyed people having the right to go college. Scalia is a yoyo.

The Weather: Wait one gosh darn moment, it was lovely at Glastonbury and rained relentlessly at the VP Records gig at Summerstage: what gives? It was freezing and wet and miserable all day. and all night. Poor country fans at Farmsborough… I know how miserable it can be. .

Live: After a full day of getting rained on, today the one thing that if I liked They Might Be Giants I would undoubtedly go to ithis matinee at Music Hall Of Williamsburg.

Recorded: Soca seriously today, it is all I wanna hear for a little while. Otherwise, getting ready for Tuesday with some Shania Twain. She’s still the one, you know.

Movies: Finally got around to watching “Divergent” and may I just say Shailene Woodley is the only YM actress I love.

Death: Yes’s  Chris Squire, debatably the greatest prog rock bassist of all time, died today of leukemia. He was 67 years of age.
