Meghan needs to calm down, get a good backing band, and play her songs, present herself, for what she is: a gifted singer songwriter. As a pop song writer, there are few better but as a pop performer she is an amateur -we know she can do it, she did it on “Title”, now she needs to rethink what she is doing on stage.
I said Taylor was making a mistake when she brushed Meghan off with a text at Jingle Ball, I said Z-100 were making a mistake when they only gave her four minutes, I said Title was the best album of the week, last Jan 13th, I said the major rock critics (in lockstep: again) were being thickies when they dismissed it as mediocre. And I said it would be at # 1 this week. And I was right.

Everything Meghan is touching nowadays is awesome, she has a terrific voice and a her modern day doo wop sound on stage she is Bette Midler meets Ariana Grande, with that big lovely voice and a brassy energetic presence. every time I see Meghan on stage I have to smile
They’ve done better with less. It was like radio but since the medium wasn’t radio and since they pushed the concept of a live radio show well past the point of no return, it didn’t happen the way it should have.
How about this for a stat, courtesy of Billboard, for the past fourteen weeks Meghan Trainor and Taylor Swift have been trading #1 and #2 and have now broken a record set by the Beatles and Lesley Gore in 1964! And what makes it better, all three songs, “Blank Space”, “Shake It Off” and “All About That Bass” are excellent (A+, A, A).
The sleazy misogynist character wants to marry Swift and is in love with Grande, but does he really think anything of all this or is it just a series of bon mots? Does he really like Taylor Swift, or should I read again
With a whole lotta great songs a 20 minute set won’t cut it. Irving Plaza on Friday , March 13th, yep that’s where we should go! I am expecting it to be a melodic blast and the continuation of the phenom who is Meghan Trainor The absolute real deal.

Lips Are Moving – Meghan Trainor – If Meghan is descending to schtick it is very good schtick with a funny hooks “I know you lie you’re lips are moving” and meghan throws everything she has at it including a rap – A-
Should it be a hit? I hope it is, I love it, I love her. It just misses it by that much, it is not ordinary but it is ordinary for what she does, for what Meghan is capable of. Really, this is an album track and should have remained deep on her upcoming (soon, please please) album
The thing to keep in mind about Trainor is that not only is she not a one hit wonder, she already has three more potential hits on her new EP and a handful of excellent tracks on her debut album from three years ago, Only 17. I mean, you haven’t even heard “Out The Window” have you?
I’ve had Clean Bandits in my sites just about since the beginning on the year, when it started showing up on the UK charts and remained their for months. That shows how long it can take, nearly a year, between a song being released and a song breaking pop big time. That violin hook is money in the back, it just takes awhile
Nothing as excited as last month, here they are mostly album tracks, plus songs off albums that didn’t make it onto the best of they year list. Three from Julian Casablancas but put that down to contrariness, and the only reason I only put three of the four Trainor tracks here is I was afraid of overkill.
Not only is she an extremely funny, powerful and witty woman, but at the age of 20, she has one indie (I mean really indie) album Only 17 (her BASSment tapes!), which I completely missed the first time around but right now stands as one of the most memorable works of the decade, beaten out by her debut EP Title.
After you get past the first two songs, the rest of this is OK but relatively ordinary. But the first two? Absolutely first rate, completely original modern pop songs. Swift we already know but Meghan has been a real revelation and I am still waiting for “Title” and “Future Husband” to storm the charts: all three leave the rest of the world in its dust.
The difference lyrically isn’t the difference between love and indifference towards men but about her sense of physicality: her self image. Which has improved vastly. Now she can spend her time worrying about which guys only want her because she’s famous.
Wow, some week right? U2 alone would be enough to keep the rock world on its toes, but if you add just about every major musician from Justin to Julian and back it makes for one of the more remarkable week s of rock and roll known to man. I am not sure when and if the U2 will cloick with me but so far not that much…
Another terrific list and while I love “Bass” my jam is “Title” which they should pull off the EP right now, I’m waiting. As for Tay, she has hit the milie mark and she could be back at # 1 if she’d let the streaming service have access to it. Otherwise, there is nothing I dislike here and lots I love.
She co-wrote the song with Grammy Award-nominated songwriter Kevin Kadish, but unfortunately for the two, there is now a big controversy: she and Kadish may have simply stolen the tune from K-pop band Koyote, who, as many people have pointed out, carries a wild similarity with another tune by the popular band Ph
I know, I know, I’m late to Hurray For The Riff Raff but I am making up ground! Superb at Summerstage on Sunday, I went back to the album Small Town Heroes and I could actually hear it! Otherwise, note the two mainstream pop songs in the middle there. Yeah, I know, I know but “Bang Bang” caught my ear.
