There are a couple of rock bands I wanted to include first, maybe Modern Baseball who I really liked opening for the Wonder Years this summer, or Nude Beach, though they’ve been around awhile. I was also considering FKA twigs, but she was already in my top five albums. Plus I’ve already heard two albums by Meghan Trainor, and she has been a gun for hire for a couple of years now.
But I can’t hide it.
Title was the best EP in a year of EPs and “All About The Bass” gave “Shake It Off” a run for its money until “Blank Space” sealed the deal for Taylor. “Lips Are Movin” was good not great though it did hit the Top Ten and the Christmas song was a miss. However, “Title” and “Dear Future Husband” were so good and her appearance at Jingle Ball so charming and her third album just a kiss away, I can’t help myself.
Everything Meghan is touching nowadays is awesome, she has a terrific voice and a her modern day doo wop sound on stage she is Bette Midler meets Ariana Grande, with that big lovely voice and a brassy energetic presence. every time I see Meghan on stage I have to smile and I can’t wait for her performance on Friday March 13th at Irving Plaza. Make the most of the primity, it won’t last long.
The only thing that can derail her is if the third album is dog and it won’t be. 2015 belongs to Meghan.
