Their effervescent electro-pop was marvelously working on the crowd as the sextet had visibly a lot of fun in their hometown, and they managed to brighten the atmosphere already extremely sunny, with a set of 10 uplifting songs. Youngblood Hawke on stage is a really enjoyable spectacle, they constantly deploy a non-stop energy

It was a quiet lo-fi, almost intimate affair, with a delicate and soft drumming, a sweet acoustic guitar, some dance-y rhythms and often three-voice-male-female harmonies. They started with a minimalist instrumentation, and then, little by little brought more people and more instruments into play.

I cannot say I was very impressed by her Pitchfork-proclaimed-best-new-music title, but there were so many fans pushing, trying to climb over the barricades, so many people backstage obstructing the view, so many police officers trying to contain the crazy fans that it was hard to tell.

Cults’ music has this sweet retro sound, building at each song a catchy power-pop borrowed from the Supremes or some other 60s Phil Spector’s band, with Madeline Follin’s powerful and childish vocals and a few dance groves underneath the apparent ballad style of the songs.

I was walking back and forth along the sidewalk during the first half of their performance, as the police wouldn’t let me stand still, but I managed to find a spot close to the stage later on, squeezing my way through a sea of people packed like sardines.
