Why not make it 75 minutes and throw in some hits? Especially when you are pushing an iffy album which hasn’t helped you even sell out a 1500 SRO? Why not give people what they want to hear? You wrote the suckers, sing em.
Action Cat – Gerald Way – This sounded impressive when he leaked it last month and as the leader on the fine new album it is a fuzzball of garage rock and proto-emo guitars – B+
eems the case with many- imagine if the band had gotten as big as One Direction, they’d be overdosed in an alley. You either have what it takes to survive in the racket or you don’t- apparently Way does not. The cool thing is he is totally OK with it
Crazy Little Thing called Love (Live At Wembley Stadium) – Queen – We could debate it but this straightforward Presleyish rocker is Freddie’s finest moment, just not this version where the extended end doesn’t work – B
Maybe we don’t have Gerard the deep thinking mastermind terminal, but we do have “Action Cats this glorious slab of power pop, a wall of fuzzy guitar, it’s like the the Cure circa “Mint Car” without Smith’s thick voice, –yes, THAT GOOD!!! If the rest of the album can maintain this sugar and spice, Gerard is back on parade again.
It feels nostalgic and energetic, the “do you miss me? cos i miss you” tugging on our hearts the way he knows he can. He seems happy and silly and the Gerard I know I’ve sure missed.
The thought here is about the division of fans after the breakup of My Chemical Romance. I think he is just asking people to please like him while saying it doesn’t matter if you do
