Gerard Way "Action Cat" Track Reviewed

Gerard Way  released a new song titled “Action Cat”, and it premiered on BBC 1 Radio.  Way is making his debut as a solo artist at both the Reading and Leeds festivals this year.  He has an upcoming solo album.  He’s obviously going to be very successful and we’re all very proud.

The song itself sounds like it could be on an MCR album, one that came after “Danger Days” because it sounds like it came from that direction anyway.  Way’s voice is really subdued though, due to poor mixing decisions.  His vocals are way too quiet, and they’re what made me love his music the most.  The instruments take too much attention away from what I can make out to be lovely strong crooning vox that are making me reminisce about how good the old days used to be.
It feels nostalgic and energetic, the “do you miss me? cos i miss you” tugging on our hearts the way he knows he can.  He seems happy and silly and the Gerard I know I’ve sure missed.
“I am continuing full-steam into comics, art, and more importantly to some of you – music.  I am pleased to let you know I am now signed as a solo artist to Warner Bros Records. My album is near completion, and you should expect to hear things in the near future, even today actually – with a brief snippet of what is to come. I am excited. It’s starting again,” he wrote.  If that’s not something to get excited about, I don’t know what is.
