Chromeo And Big Freedia At Central Park, Friday, September 12th, 2014, Reviewed

By Iman Lababedi | September 13, 2014

If you can’t use close circuit TV and you have no band, no nothing, with you, you better find some way to pull the audience forward and teaching us how to clap isn’t it, it is too amateur, it is too dowdy for what should be a sparkling rave up. A good light show can’t begin to substitute for a great presence.

Let's Active: Concert Picks Week Of September 8th, 2014

By Iman Lababedi | September 7, 2014

EDM can be hit or miss live but with New Orleans Big Freedia opening my guess is the Canadian duo is gonna be way on their game at Rumsey Playfield’s sold out gig with one final no nonsense push on their excellent current album White Women. So, yeah this is the gig Chromeo fans on a Friday evening during the last days of summer 2014.

Must See: Chromeo At Summerstage, September 2014

By Iman Lababedi | June 13, 2014

I saw A-Trak a couple of weeks ago at T5 and was very impressed so it was even more of a reason to catch Chromeo next time they play locally but there is more… THEY ARE PLAYING SUMMERSTAGE!!! Under the stars at Central Park for a modified rave? You gotta think that is gonna be a blast.

I Will Never Let You Down – Rita Oro – Jay Z protegee breaks through after a coupla years of featured chorus singing and this is good EDM pop, sweet and not very assuming – B+

That Was The Week Of May 12th, 2014, That Was

By Iman Lababedi | May 18, 2014

A good week for concerts. I went three for three, Lady Gaga followed by Lily Allen, followed by Elbow and all three were a whole lot of fun, though I think, maybe, Elbow were best. Still, two of these will make my best of the year list and the third maybe should as well.

rock nyc Top 10 Songs week of May 12th, 2014

By Iman Lababedi | May 16, 2014

Chromeo ran away with the week but the surprise here is Coldplay, I’ll give em two out of three songs, not masterpieces but at least I don’t want to punch Chris in the nose. Always a step in the right direction. Swans is Swans –I like em in small doses.

Be Here Now: Snapshot Reviews Of New Album Releases, Tuesday, May 13th, 2014

By Iman Lababedi | May 13, 2014

White Women – Chromeo – I’ve never been much of a fan of this disco duo, never hit me as inventive as Holy Ghost for one, but they get it right here. High energy, melodic, if a little old fashioned. The Solange song is terrific the Ezra Koenig song uses his falsetto to great effect and the opening track masterful – ALBUM OF THE WEEK – B+
