You must have heard, it’s Christmas,… again! And here they are again, these eternal songs that come back every year with the same boring arrangements and inanity. Is it that difficult to write new Christmas songs? I guess, because we have been playing the same old clichés for over a century.
Far be it for me to mock the afflicted, but this line up is painful just to read , let alone see. My Morning Jacket peaked in 2008 and Dawes, War On Drugs, and, oh god no, Dr. Dog, might peak one of these days, we don’t really know. The only name that excites me here is Biz Markie, and really I think I’ve heard “Just A Friend” live once or twice before.
Love Death Immortality – The Glitch Mob – Or Justin Boreta, Ed Ma, and Josh Mayer, three LA DJs with a great tweak and bass sound for the ages. This is the Glitch Mob’s sophomore effort and it is even harder than the first. An unwavering mesh of synth sounds, doctored drums and bass bass bass and bigger then life. Giving the EDM audience what they want – ALBUM OF THE WEEK – B+
On the phone a coupla days ago I asked Marie what she was listening to and in response she sent me her most played list off her Ipod. “When I want to play music where I know I’m gonna love every song, I play this”, she explained. “These are the songs I never get tired of.”
