Leak shmeek, Rihanna drops the first track off her eagerly anticipated new album “World Peace”, a poppy modified dubstep, catchy and silly as hell. “Oh America, all the way down to africa”? Rihanna sings and the question is, should musicians have fact checkers?
“World Peace” is about as serious as Alicia Keys going full throttle feed the world, jambalaya. “In a perfect world there would be no lonely ones” she sings and it is hard to deny, though I personally think aloneness is underrated. The keyboards hold the beats and the synths are very house synth zooming in and out of the mix. This isn’t what will be on the album and the vocal is so off, I actually wonder if it is Rihanna at all.
But leaked from her studio, if it isn’t a new song it sounds like it could be. the wooah wooahs sound like Riri’s signature all right, and the sentiment is kinda underplayed, it doesn’t smack you, more like an observation. she doesn’t do high octane drama now does she?
I like it fine but don’t love it, a little whatever and silly, kinda like the concept of world peace love and understanding. Maybe an obtuse ferguson reference?
