What does this say about people who attend Coachella? That they are very young hipsters who don’t know who are the Stone Roses. When we got the news that the UK band was headlining the Californian festival, attendees were perplex and a Tumblr ‘who are the stones roses‘ was even created! And it wasn’t exaggerated at all.
Poor Stone Roses, they have now been bumped down by Coachella organizers, and during the second weekend, they will not be Friday’s headliners anymore, in favor of the other band playing that same night, Blur. No reason was officially announced, but the thin crowd they drew last weekend has probably something to do with the move, from 11:35 pm to 9:55 pm.
Stone Roses invented Madchester in the early 1990s, paving the way for dance and rock to meet somewhere in the middle of an ecstasy fueled rave. There first album was one of the biggest of the decade and it directly paved the route to Brit Pop. But it never broke in the States.
At least, this is what Rolling Stone and Spin magazines are claiming, but they are all wrong!! Buzzbandsla is proving them wrong and reveals that the Blur/Stone Roses bill was planned as a co-headlining situation all along according to a Goldenvoice representative. Thus the switch was planned and there is absolutely nothing abnormal!! And that’s absolutely true if you look at the poster, both band names are on the same line, of the same size,… so? Rolling Stone and all these other magazines made a lot of noise for nothing.
