I might be the only Steely Dan fan in the house. Oh I don’t know why I like them I just do. Maybe it reminds me of car rides with my brother who knows.
Walter Becker and Donald Fagan still tour. They play the old stuff the ‘deep cuts’ the crowd pleasers and it gets eatin with a spoon. The folks get a sitter down a few drinks at Chili’s and head out for a great night. I would rather drop dead in the road and run myself over with my own car and it would be worth it to find a way to do so.
An announcement about the tour declares that Shuffle Diplomacy Twenty Eleven will include special guests “and an idealistic strategy for World Peace.” I believe that’s called bong water. Look lets face it “Back Jack do it again” just isnt gonna fly anymore. I traveled over to Youtube to grab a dose of Katy Lied (that album cover.. awesome wrote about it a million years ago) and stumbled upon recent tour footage…and I swear to Jesus that isn’t Steely that’s my tax accountant. They suck.
I wouldn’t go see them live other than to say I saw them live at this point. Like if the tickets were free. I love thm though seeing them tour is going to remind me to pull out all the great stuff they have done. Hell I can make today ‘Black Friday’ or something cool like that.
The big issue here is the ‘set up residency’ element. This time The Beacon Theater NYC:six-nights Sept. 13-14, Sept 16-17 and Sept. 27-28. I bet it will sell out too, alot of people cant face the fact that its best to remember things before time took toll.
