September will mark the 20th anniversary of Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’, and Spin has already posted a free tribute album entitled ‘Newermind’ on its facebook page.
The Vaselines and Meat Puppets, respectively covering ‘Lithium’ and ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, are logically part of the tribute as they were two of Cobain’s personal favorite bands.
Also noticeable, Titus Andronicus doing a devilish version of ‘Breed’, Surfer Blood wildly covering ‘Territorial Pissings’ but staying quite close to the original, and Charles Bradley and the Menahan Street Band bringing some soul to ‘Stay Away’.
The album is available for free download, you will just have to ‘like’ Spin’s Facebook page through July 25, after which it will be up on the magazine’s website.
