I was just writing about Paul Simon’s high-priced tickets yesterday, and his long time partner came out of his silence at the same time to announce to Billboard magazine he is ready to tour again with Simon!
In 2010, Garfunkel was diagnosed with vocal cord paresis during their Old Friends tour, and they had to cancel some dates, but the singer has now healed thanks to vocal exercises, steam, gargling, and voice warm-up tapes.
He said his voice is ‘coming along slowly, painfully, excruciatingly slow’, and that he’ll ‘never going to give up on his crusade to return to the stage’, predicting some dates with Simon possibly before the end of the year:
‘Late 2011 — I feel in my bones, in my cells, that that’s the scenario, give me a little more time. At the rate the voice is coming back, I should be in pretty good shape by, as the corporations say, the fourth quarter of 2011.’
And apparently Paul Simon is supporting this prediction since he called Garfunkel a few weeks ago and told him: ‘When you’re ready, I’m very happy to bring the guitar around the house and let’s try ‘The Boxer,’ let’s warm up, let’s see where we’re at.’
Wow, that means that Simon will never stop touring this year,… at almost 70, it’s quite laudable,… now if they could lower these ticket prices!
“My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment.”
