There is nothing rock and roll about "What Child Is This". "Oh Holy Night" got no swag. "Winter Wonderland" unless slanging for coke really has no rebel.
Weilands album is streaming on Spin. It is …fantastic. I wont lie, his voice fluctuates from a lounge Sammy Davis Jr impersonator to a really weird nasal alto at times but it still works. Its a totally drunk sound but in a good way.
I don't really know how he pulled this off. The weakest song is "I'll Be Home For Christmas" where his voice at times sounds like Kermit the Frog, but the rest of the release is a true and wonderful traditional album. Great holiday background music and Aunt Nessie can sing along and you can know its a bad ass rocker boy crooning.
I wanted to make fun of this- instead I fell in love with it. Go figure
