In the series, idea shakers – that is great scientists and famous philosophers – are rock stars, Monsters of Grok is making ‘fake band t-shirts for history’s greatest minds’. The idea is to take the name of a scientist or a philosopher and to write it using the logo of a rock band.
‘I don’t know about you, but I think science and philosophy are pretty bad ass, so join me in rocking out with some the most influential thinkers of all time!’ writes designer Jeremy Kalgreen. I agree, although it all depends on the one you pick! But don’t worry all the ones that were picked are great ones.
My Favorite ones? Carl Sagan written as a Slayer logo, Isaac Newton as Iron Maiden, Stephen Hawking as The Wu-Tang Clan (so weird and random), Niels Bohr as The Doors, Max Planck as The Sex Pistols, Nikola Tesla as AC/DC (the only one that curiously makes sense!), Erwin Schrödinger as Scorpions, Jean Paul Sartre as The Strokes, Nietzsche as Nirvana, Simone de Beauvoir as The Beatles…
I understand that most of these associations were made on the basis of shared initials (when it was possible) because the first letter is a big part of a logo design, but some are very awkward, like Darwin as Danzig… so much to bring Darwin closer to satanic science!
You can check all the designs on their page, there is something for everyone, but what about (Karl) Marx as Muse or Albert Camus as The Cure?
