Rufus has a fabulous voice and its accented by an amazing Gospel like choir in this latest video from the puffy shirted one. This vide is adorable and Wainwright looks great when he is a mess! Mildly reminiscent of the 'Boys Keep Swinging' David Bowie vid at times, the story of a librarian and her visions so to speak. I like it- I think Rufus on the other hand may not.
Rufus explains that the song was inspired by the YouTube obsessed kids of today. 'For the first two verses I'm complaining, but in the third verse, it's tinged with envy as well,' he says. 'I'd like to be that age again and that silly, that excited about idiotic things. So I'm not being insensitive, just tired.'
Aren't we all?
The video seems to be filmed in that yellow hazed Instagram lighting that the whole world has become obsessed with. Bonham Carter is nothing short of gorgeous (really will someone make that dame age already?) and Rufus, as I mentioned looks great if only he weren't so tidy all the time.
The song? Well, its Rufus Wainwright to the core. Pleasing vocals over a calm and comforting and predictable beat. A standard. I'm proud of this though, it shows a step into the mainstream. Wainwright always seemed so smuggy and elitist. Apparently I was wrong.
''Out Of The Game' ' Rufus Wainwright's 7th studio album will be released on April 23rd
