Randy Newman must have an incredible sense of humor. Not a ‘Weird’ Al sort of thing but more intelligent and wordplay. A thinking man’s parody. He was able to mock himself in the 1977 hit “Short People” and has scored a boatload of films including Toy Story and Cars. A distinct voice and flip attitude makes his work immediately recognizable.
Get ready for some group of narrows to hop upon the hate wagon for this one Newman has a new song right in time for elections in which he is ‘dreaming of a white President”, pretty fun, no?
“I’m Dreaming” is going to be a huge hit, with lyrics like “He won’t be the brightest, perhaps, but he’ll be the whitest, and I’ll vote for that.”
“It’s delicate enough that I’m not going to offend people every which way, but I wanted to get it right as best I could,” said Newman, who added that he’s always worried there may be some backlash following the release of a song like this one.
Mitt Romney isn’t a “serious candidate for president.” According to Newman and the Obama supporter is confident his man will win in November.“No European country would have elected a black man,” he said. “I can’t believe it happened. I think it’s fantastic, like a step on the moon.”
Although friends suggested he hold the tune to be premiered on his new album, Newman wanted it out now “I think it’s for the moment,” he said. “It’s not going to live forever.”
I don’t really find this funny, it’s sort of redneck fun. But hey I don’t like American Idol either so no big surprise
