Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme Throws A Fan Off Stage During Concert

Joshua Homme

There are some rock stars who welcome fans on stage – I saw Iggy Pop asking people to jump with him and soon the whole Palladium crowd was up there – and others who just can’t stand the idea. During a Queens Of The Stone Age’s concert in St. Petersburg, Florida, a fan jumped on stage during the song ‘The Vampyre of Time and Memory’, and let’s just say that Josh Homme didn’t like the abrupt interruption. Not only he threw the fan off stage quite brutally, but he had a long monologue, assassinating the guy before going back to the song: ‘Don’t do that, because I’ll fucking… I don’t care if you love me,’ he said on an mid-angry mid-joking tone, ‘You can stand right there, dude. I don’t know what you’re trying to do. You’re lucky I didn’t fuck you up, bro. I’m here to play for you, not jerk you off, you fucking douchebag.’… ‘Cause we’re going to be together right? That motherfucker doesn’t know what we’re talking about. We’re talking about being together, I want to play it for, I want to show you something, I want to be together, you know? I wanna… I want to do something together, but I don’t want this a–hole to be up on the stage… Fuck that guy. Long live us, but fuck this guy.’… ‘You can tell I’m getting more mellow as I get older’… Really?

This event triggered some sort of black or white reactions, with people saying Josh Homme is an asshole with some serious anger management issues, going on an ego trip, and others basically saying ‘don’t fuck with Homme’, he had all the rights to kick the ass of that guy who basically spoiled the song for everybody. But before everyone gets excited, I think Homme simply got scared! A lot of musicians have been attacked on stage and Lennon was shot by a fan after all. Imagine being immersed in the music and suddenly seeing this guy jumping at you and wanted to do god-knows-what? Of course, Homme is a giant and so he shouldn’t be afraid of anyone, but it was the strangest moment to jump on stage, as it was probably the slowest song of the show and not exactly the time for a stage dive. In any case, the whole thing was filmed by a fan and you can watch the action below, it all starts at 1:16:
