On Thursday the Queen behemoth reaches Madison Square garden and in eager anticipation of the event let’s take a look at the setlist and it is goodie mix between casual and crazed fan faves. All the hits are here plus, surprise, Freddie Mercury’s excellent “Love Kills”, plus deep cuts, a lot of them.Or maybe deep to me. I was never a big Queen and except for Opera and Races, and the hits, I don’t know the material too well. Listening to these songs I can hear both what I disliked and what I should have enjoyed. The faux opera dragged me and the harmonies really really dragged me, but Mercury was a magnetic force and the band could play rock and roll metal with the best of em.
