Pete Townshend Walks Off Stage Shouting 'Too Loud!'

Sunrise Florida got the first of the Quadrophenia tours and well, things got a bit dramatic. Thursday night was the tour opener and Thursday night Pete huffed off.

“Too Loud”, was heard as Pete Townshend pointed at his monitor.  Either the sound crew didn’t catch on or were too busy jamming to “You Better You Better You Bet” but the point is the sound was not lowered, Townshend removed his guitar and walked off the stage.  Daltrey and the band kept going, finishing up the tune and segue in to “ Baba O'Riley”.

Simon Townshend, Pete's brother and part of the band, Tweeted 'Pete walked off tonight because it was too loud. Was a good show but had some technical problems.'

The issue is Pete’s hearing.  It is well known that he has severe hearing damage and is diligent in protecting what is left but really was storming off the only option?  You would think levels would be set prior to the performance?  He is justified in his own protection but a bit of preproduction prep should have warded this off.

Anyway, here is the set a bit more than just Quadrophenia and snappy departure:
