It was just a matter of time wasn’t it? Before some teenager munching a burrito and pausing WOW, would create this little masterpiece. I’m sorry I know that doesn’t define Dan Chamberlain, the creator of this gloriousness but it could be. Pulled straight from the guys Tumblr is a song that just begged to happen, and has!
Its fantastic, It’s dark enough not to be kitsch’. Mashing up Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus” with Kanye’s “Black Skinhead’ is one of those things that make you go, ‘what took them so long’? I just wish there was a smidgen more Depeche. Basically this is just using them on the chorus and there is so many other places they could have merged the drum bits, to say the least. But I ain’t complaining cuz I couldn’t do this if I tried. So mad props to the bootleggers who made it happen.
People are still buzzing about the album “Yeezus” and well half of them have no clue who Depeche Mode is so high five to Dan Chamberlain for putting this bit together. Kanye owned June 2013, from his sneaking up on my co-editor Iman Lababedi at Governors Ball to having his ho push out a kid to Yeezus..enough Kanye, take July off. Wait no, take the entire summer off! You’ve earned it.
As for Dan Chamberlain, he’s a hip New York cat so check him out. According to this bio, “I perform at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre with the sketch group Fambly, am co-creator of Left Handed Radio– a sketch comedy podcast for the Splitsider podcast network- and make things for TV & the internet. One time The Huffington Post said I “wowed the world.”
As Chambaland, my music mashups have been featured on The AV Club, Buzzfeed, Esquire, Gawker, The Hairpin, Interview, Pop Culture Brain, The Verge, NYMag’s Vulture, and more
This is great!
