‘There’s a long way to go but we are doing something with U2,’ according to The Sun, this is what declared Swedish composer, producer and songwriter Carl Falk. But you have to know that he is the mastermind behind boybands like Backstreet Boys and the new youth's sensation One Direction!
Are you serious? I didn’t know U2’s career had fallen that low to court teen-idol makers! But it seems serious as a source added:
‘The band are back in the studio getting a feel for new material after the last album No Line On The Horizon. Will.i.am had a credit on that and they are looking to explore that direction further. They have been working with Dangermouse and Redone. They are excited about getting to work with Carl Falk.’
I can (or can’t) already imagine the scene, Bono and the Edge reinventing themselves with skinny jeans, tight tees, colorful suspenders, jumping tennis shoes and hipster haircuts, jumping around as if they were having a second youth?… what is that shit?
They had the most lucrative tour in the history of rock’ n’ roll, grossing more than $700 million, they should now retire! However, Bono has no desire to retire, although he has had his doubt, his doubt about the future of the band,… according to NME, Bono had already declared last October that he had ‘struggled to produce hit singles over the last few years especially on their last LP 'No Line On The Horizon' with the first single off the record 'Get On Your Boots' failing to chart in the Top 10 while the remaining singles didn't even get into the Top 20.’
So he is turning towards these girlish boyband model to conquer the world again? Personally, I thought that this resurgence of boybands was bad enough! I suppose, as long as there will be female adolescents, they will have their place in the music scene, but where is U2’s place? U2 members are old, they are losing their hair, gravity is not on their side, and Bono's broken back will never allow him to bounce like these damsels. Bono, forget about it, you can never be young again.
