Nickolas Rossi, a filmmaker who lived in Portland from 94-99, was planning to shoot a movie about Elliott Smith, right around the time that Gil Reyes’s film came out.
He sent me this trailer about the project and I must say, it looks very well done, sensitive. He used a segment that Oregon Public Broadcasting did on the 5-year anniversary of Elliott's death (you can hear Neil Gust’s voice and others’) with existing interviews of Elliott's.
After the release of Reyes’ movie, his project was unfortunately put on hold, mostly due to the fact that people from Portland don’t want to talk about Elliott to anyone from the film industry anymore.
