Nick Lowe And Dave Edmund Dream Live Set List: I knew the band when they used to rock and roll

I have seen Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds perform together precisely once thirty years ago opening for Elvis Costello, 1978, maybe 1979 at the latest. The late great Willy deVille were the first band. Nick Lowe was dressed like a Harlequin!! 1979, opening for Elvis Costello on the This Year’s Model tour. I can’t remember what the set was but it was probably not a million miles away from this half hour set list, August 1979 at the same venue.

Down Down down
So It Goes
Crawling from the Wreckage
Girls talk
Cruel To Be Kind
I Hear You Knocking
Jailhouse Rock
So It Goes

Fun? Sure it was. Dream live set list? I don’t think so.

There is an old about New Musical Express’ concert review editor in the seventies Phil Sutcliff. Phil would assign freelancers a Rockpile concert to review. If they didn’t like Rockpile live he didn’t waste his time with them anymore.

Makes complete sense to me.

Anyway, a lotta songs gone down by both Edmunds and Lowe in the past years and I’ve seen em live many times separately, but never together and never with Terry Williams on drums and Bremner on guitar. The three guitar attack is a little misleading, somebody was always playing rhythm guitar. So let’s get the original Rockpile together one more time and add Steve Nieve on keybs and a guest vocal for Elvis C. (no getting away from the man)!! So here we go, live from the Beacon Theatre, ROCKPILE:
You Never Can Tell
Promised Land
They Call It Rock
Climbing From The Wreckage
Queen Of Hearts
The Rose Of England
Cruel To Be Kind
I Hear You Knocking
Get Out Of Denver
Here Comes The Weekend
What’s Shakin’ On The Hill
Shting-Shtang
Lately I’ve Let Things Slide
Juju Man
Girls Talk (with Elvis Costello)
Nutted By Reality
When I Write The Book
Teacher Teacher
If Sugar Was As Sweet As You
Marie Prost
Heart Of The City

Encore
When Will I Be Loved
Rollers Song
Singing the Blues
Information
Little Hitler
I Love The Sound Of Breaking Glass
So It Goes
I Knew The Bride When She Used To Rock And roll

Now THAT’S WHAT I CALL A LIVE DREAM SET LIST!! So how about it guys?
