Debbie Harry was every boys punk rock dream. The playboy bunny turned rocker girl, inspired and owned the NYC punk scene. I was never a huge fan but there were a couple tunes that I did like. She looked great though and really exemplified what a punk rock girl should look like and how to behave, When I state 'how to behave' you have to remember that the punk scene was very much male dominated . You were either a slut or a butch. There was very little inbetween, cept for Debbie who balanced the slutty butch with mad style. That I will always admire.
Shes 67 now. No kids no grandkids and no husband (though many think she was married to Christ Stein she wasn't). The quintessential independent beautiful woman is no stranger to acting- but then again perhaps she should be as she is not exactly one of the greats.
Here is her latest offering. A cute film that may never make it to the big screen but a shining example of how punk rock girls never fade away.
Starring with Debbie Harry is Branko Tomovic ("Entity", "Bourne Ultimatum") and Nik Lehan. It's Jimmy Cauty's (The KLF) debut as a film director .
"A fast paced road movie about a young man who believes he has won a part in a Hollywood film opposite the rock legend Debbie Harry. The film follows him for 24 hours from an inner city squat party through the streets and suburbs of south London as he tries to make it to the airport."
The film recently premiered at the Tate Modern in London, here is a first trailer. This is one fucked up looking film…
