Must See: Wu Tang Clan And Others At Barclay Center For "The Source 360"

Wu Out Sourced

Wu Out Sourced

How long ago was the last time I saw Wu tang Clan on stage?

1. The Izod Center was known as the Continental Arena

2. Hut 97’s Summer Jam was being played there and not Giant’s Stadium (let alone MetLife)

3. Ol’ Dirty Bastard dissed Hut 97 big time, wondering what the hell they were doing there since Hut 97 didn’t play their music

4. And, yeah, well, it was awesome. 1997 and four hours that really feels a little unequaled in my concert going hip hop experience. Definitely the best Summer Jam I ever saw though I did stop going when they moved it to a Sunday. “Hot 97, where hip hop goes to die” RZA claimed and really, you wanan argue with him.

Man, that was nearly 20 years ago and though I did see Wu Tang one more time (the time when ODB was on the run from the cops at Hammerstein), not much since then. The Wu were never quite mainstream enough for me, plus there was too damn much of it.

But I am seriously thinking of going to the Saturday September 20th gig at Barclay Center:

“Source 360 Presents WuTang Reunion w/ Special Guest Diplomats & More!

Wu Tang Clan

The Diplomats
Bones-Thugs-N-Harmony”
Curren$y
Apparently this is The Source 25th year anniversary gig and you know why I wanna go, I mean I even love the Diplos.  This is big time old school rap heaviness.
BUT, I imagine it will be a nightmare to get in, I imagine there will be ridiculous amounts of dicking around, I imagine there will be heavy security.
Also, NO ODB!!
According to the Music Universe, this is all part of a larger the Source celebration: “Events will take place at Brooklyn Academy of Music, The Barclays Center, Long Island University, and throughout the Brooklyn Cultural District. Industry and community leaders such as Run DMC, Wu Tang Clan, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Common, Spike Lee, Danny Simmons, MC Lyte, Brandon Martinez, Brooklyn Borough President, Eric Adams, and more are expected to participate and be in attendance. A full-scale concert will also be held at the Barclays Center on Saturday, September 20th.”
