Must See: Lulu AT BB Kings In February 2013

How excited are you about this, eh? How thrilled to see the wonderful 1960s dynamo who will always have a special place in the heart for all of us who adored her in "To Sir With Love" singing to a dewey eyed Sidney Poiter in the slums of London.

That's not all, of course, just has a hit machine she covered "Shout" and "The Boat That I Row" and a very credible Bond song "The Man With The Golden Gun". Indeed, in the world of 1960s chick icons she is right there with Cilla Black, Sandie Shaw, Petula Clark and (the best of them all) Dusty Springfield. In other words: she was a pop cover artist and a great one, whose impeccable taste has lead her to work with the likes of Elton John, Bobby Womack, Sting and her late ex-husband Maurice Gibb.

And if all that is cool enough for you, the little screamer, not to mention luvver, gave a young David Bowie a lift to the charts (and a ride in bed) with a hit cover of "The Man Who Sold The World",

So while I wouldn't drop Maroon 5 (playing February 16th as well )  for Yo La Tengo… for Lulu Kennedy-Cairns, OBE, there is zero option. I might be able to dash to MSG and catch the last hour of Adam Levine but no, Lulu must be seen. The only question is why BB Kings? why not Radio City?

Tix are on sale for the Saturday gig but  hurry!!!
