Must See: Jimmy Page In Conversation This November

don't scoff turn the Page

don’t scoff turn the Page

If I was interviewing Jimmy there is plenty of stuff I’d like to ask him about, not least is what does it mean to be a Wicken in the 1960s, underage romance, weird fashion, hard rock, hammers and gods. But since this is a conversation about his pictorial biography ZOSO, first released in a limited edition 2500 print back in 2010.

So I decided what the heck, I might as well figure out what he has to say any way, even if it is nothing earth shattering. I’ve only seen Page live once, that was with Page on the Walking Into Clarksdale, a good album and a fine set at MSG. But having said that, I am not a huge Zep fan, much like metal as a whole I always found them a little on the silly side without being self aware.

I’d love to see them live and if Plant doesnt wanna tour, I’d love to see Page bring out the Zep catalog on stage one more time but he has a huge problem, who do you get to play Page? Adam Lambert? Eddie Vedder (right attitude, wrong key). Anyway, buy tickets for the November 3rd conversation at the 92nd Street Y here.

More info about the book? This is about the limited edition:

Genesis Publications proudly present Jimmy Page’s first official published work, the definitive photographic autobiography of one of the world’s most iconic guitar players. As well as signing every copy, Page has personally chosen every one of the 650 photographs, written the accompanying captions and helped design the magnificently luxurious binding to create Genesis Publications’ biggest ever limited edition.Genesis and Jimmy Page have spent two years together sifting through thousands of photographs to produce a final and definitive edit that includes a mixture of iconic portraits, rare and unseen images and photographs from Page’s own archive. With incredible attention to detail, Page has chosen photographs representing the most significant moments in his career: from a schoolboy with a rock-a-billy quiff through his extensive work as a session musician; from The Yardbirds through Led Zeppelin, ARMS, The Firm, Outrider, Coverdale & Page and Page & Plant; playing with The Black Crowes, Roy Harper, P Diddy and performing with Leona Lewis at the closing ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The collection represents the work of more than 70 different photographers including some of the greatest names in rock photography – including Ross Halfin, Neal Preston, Kate Simon, Gered Mankowitz, Dominique Tarlé, and Pennie Smith.”I’ve really got a lot of time for the way Genesis produce their books, they’re really quality items,” says Page. “As someone who’s always been interested in having a library themselves, I appreciate fine bookbinding and their whole ethic of what they do and what they’re trying to do with a whole catalogue of books.”Limited to 2500 copies, Jimmy Page by Jimmy Page will be available from September 27 2010.
