So here is the question: what do we do about Jay-Z? The world's most popular, but not the worlds best, rapper, whose skills are diminishing. His song for his daughter was terrible, Blueprint 3 had one great song, Throne maybe 3, on stage I have seen him many times since I watching him opening for Puff Daddy with Busta Rhymes, and the last three times I've been disappointed.
His "Fade To Black" retirement gig was his last great concert and it has been downhill ever since, especially the 9-11 charity gig with the ridiculous "I see You" segment . And while I appreciate everybody else raving about the "Watch The Throne" concert, it was tied to a lousy album. and I felt like a bitter old man for being so bored by huge chunks. Plus "Otis" is his worst song ever.
So why did I get a tix to the Barclay's Center September 29th, 2012 gig?
1. For the website
2. Because I wanna check out the Nets new home (I will definitely get to a Home Game, even though the Nets didn't get Howard)
3. Hey, maybe he won't suck.
4. The tix was only $40 INCLUDING CHARGES
And here is three people I wish I was seeing instead.
1. Solange Knowles
2. Beyonce Knowles Carter
3. Kanye West Kardashian
And here is the setlist from his UK set
