If you wanna put Cam’ron up against Mase and Jim Jones, Mase and Jim Jones are gonna make it because really since at Least “Do IT Again”, Cam’rom has been one of the best rappers in the business and not just that, listen to “Hey Mama”… he can do pop like a sonofabitch and both his crews, “The Diplomats” (aka the Dipset) and “The U.N.” are excellent.
Indeed, stick him next to Kendrick or Tyler, or J. Cole -anyone, he has better flow and smarter attitude and if Earl Sweatshirt is a smarter rhymer he isn’t a smarter rapper or pop star. In 2010, Cam’ron released Get It In Ohio and yet again, he was unbeatable. The only superior he has is Kanye West. In a word, Cam’Ron is an East Coast King and it is always a pleasure to see him live.
With a quiet week ahead before the Governors Ball onslaught, and having passed on Barry Gibb and Lael Summer last week, I kept on looking at A-Trak, his Ducksauce album is the EDM highlight of the year so far, and considering it though I don’t dance or take drugs so… but then I noticed Cam’Ron was opening and what can I say? This is a double header legends are made of. And while I don’t quite see the connect, Cam’ron is enough of a sound merchant, listen to the awesome sample on “Cookin Up”, I guess it might work very well.
Cam’ron is opening for A-Trak on Saturday at Terminal 5. Yeah, check it out. If you love hip hop and you don’t love Cam’Ron your missing the plot.
