How scary is it to take on such a monumental song? To be a band that is not exactly huge, to take on a song that is bigger than the both of us must be intimidating.
What do you do? "Make it your own'? Risky to say the least. You'll get some tool purist saying, 'how dare you' or something similar. Try to sound the same and you're doomed to being not a quarter as good as the original.
I'd have bailed out. Motion City Soundtrack took it on. We reported about the charity album of Beatles covers and now thanks to the bands tumblr, we can actually hear what they did.
They did quite well. The the Minnesota Beatle Project Volume 3. is the proud home of this amazingly pure version of "Here Comes The Sun". Modernized just a bit with a smidgen of keyboard twitter in the back ground. Its a fabulous tempo as well. Not quite a wedding band but certainly not trying to be a Beatle reproduction.
This band is adorable.
