Jessie Tobias isn’t exactly a household name. When you’re musical backup to a legendary performer you don’t really get a spotlight. Tobias steps in to Marrs shoes in a way and for a guy who does so well at such a daunting task, the discretion is noteworthy. You would expect a bit of grandstanding at least. Tobias just plays- until this months Uncut Magazine comes out, that is.
Apparently Moz has tons of hoarded material ‘two albums worth’ to be exact.
“We’re long overdue for the studio,” he says. “There are two albums’ worth of songs ready.
“I’ve heard almost everything and feel it’s some of the strongest material to date. Musically diverse. Anthemic. Even in their infant stages the songs excite me.”
Morrissey is forever in the spotlight. His book is breaking records, he’s playing his first gig in nine months at The Nobel Peace Prize concert and well he is putting a rather rocky 2013 to bed. Is this indication that 2014 will be the year of the Moz?
Amanda Palmer was kind enough to advise him how to fund a project (that’s sarcasm by the way) so whats the wait? We haven’t had a new release since ‘Years Of Refusal’ in 2009, so hup hup get to it, son.
I cant imagine how challenging working for Morrissey must be. The show cancellations alone must drive the band nuts. Meat free venues? Vegetarian tours? You must have to have an amazing loyalty to your art to put up with such shenanigans (and compensated accordingly)
