These black and white photographs taken by designer-photographer Hedi Slimane are really stunning, mostly because of their subject, Frances Bean Cobain.
She is only 19, has a career in art (I saw some of her art in Los Angeles’s La Luz De Jesus Gallery last year), and has been a guest vocalist on a song by Amanda Palmer and Jason Webley’s musical duo Evelyn Evelyn, but beside this, what do we know about her? Not a lot since Courtney Love lost custody of her two years ago.
Well, Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s child is a sexy woman now, and although she looks more like her father than her mother (these eyes!), she posed like Courtney Love’s true daughter… rebelling, smoking, even posing with a crucifix and showing her numerous tattoos: among them, a tattoo of gay icon Quentin Crisp, one of cartoon character Seymour Sunshine, one of the first lines of Jeff Buckley’s Grace, and one of a French sentence, ‘L’art est la solution au chaos’ (Art is the solution to chaos). A strange and unique composition. You can see all the pictures here:
