Years and years ago I saw Eric Idle perform an excellent solo show at Carnegie Hall, a place to mispronounce “King’s College Cambridge” and sing “The Galaxy Song” and “Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life” in the comforfort of our own Concert Hall. Yeah, I always liked young Eric, the cheekiest Rutle of them all.
But I never saw the other members of Monty Python’s Flying Circucs and since I am not flying off to London for the faewell gigs figured I’d have to wait for the HBO special or something but no!!! According to contactmusic.com “the final show will be simultaneously broadcastat 450 cinemas in the UK, as well as 1,500 around the world. Countries where the show will be broadcast include Russia, Poland, Australia, and the US.”
The US? That would be us. Personally, I think a pay perview even would make much more sense plus, what about the timing? An 8pm London show will be 2pm in New York. Who can leave work, right?
Still, this is what MP had to say: “Thanks to the wonderful invention of moving pictures, The Last Night of Monty Python is coming to a cinema near you. Get your knotted handkerchiefs out and warm your brains one last time at any one of 450 cinemas across the UK, and 1,500 across the world. Join the crowd live from London’s O2 in a final weepy, hilarious, uproarious, outrageous farewell to the five remaining Pythons as they head for The Old Jokes Home…on the big screen in HD.”
I dunno how I can be there, but if I can I sure will!
