Who will watch the watchers? I won’t most of the time but every now and then I got to Metacritic and check out what my peers are up to and they never fail to baffle me.
The New Moon soundtrack got an 86% approval rating from the rock critics surveyed. New York Times overstimated it a touch but essentially got it right. But Entertainment Weekly completely lost the story line witha preposterous (wait for it) 100% approval. Eh? Leah Greenblatt blathers on about a soundtrack that rarely falters. Yeah, because it never finds its footing. Better still she claims the album is a “sort of survey course in new-now-next rock: a mixtape with teeth.” It actually represents a buncha poseurs missing a) the point and b) the target demo.
