I am not a Manson fanatic. Let's put that right out there from the start. Marilyn Manson creeps me out. He makes me uncomfortable. There was a time when I thought it was his videos that were disturbing but no, its him.
There is something just dangerous and creepy about him. From the humble Ybor drag days to the fame to the.. what is he now? He isn't popular or famous, not a star not a fixture and not yet a parody. He is a goth-like freakmaster who has a great industrial sound and "No Reflection" continues that trend.
When discussing his new release Manson stated:
"The new record put simply has the ambition and determination of how I started making music in the first place," Manson says. "It sounds like the first record in that it's not afraid to do anything. I had to remove myself from my lifestyle and start fresh.'
"It doesn't really sound like any of my old records," Manson says in an upcoming Revolver magazine cover story. "In fact it sort of sounds like what I listened to before I made records – Killing Joke, Joy Division, Revolting Cocks, Bauhaus, Birthday Party. It's very rhythm-driven. I think this will probably be the grandest concept record of all."
hmm, anyone read something contradictory there? "it sounds like my first record" "it doesn't really sound like any of my old records". SEE!! This is why Manson is THE MAN.
The song is a killer beat (I will play the hell out of this at the gym) and catchy melody and vocal perfection. Ok.. ok.. I am a fanatic.
