So may be all this beef between Madonna and Ariel Pink had some ultimate purpose… attract more attention on the indie LA musician as he is about to drop a new album on November 11th? You tell me, it is not there yet, but one thing is sure, Pink has released a new single entitled ‘Black Ballerina’ on Monday, and it’s damn weird.
If it sounds like a druggy party, may be it’s really one and the song progresses for a few minutes over the same going-into-circles funky bass beats then goes into some typical Pink musical delirium with strange lyrics. Although I certainly can’t really understand everything about the lyrics/spoken words… ‘take your bra and panties off,’ comes up as well as ‘number one strip club in LA’,… there is sure a hot and dirty ambiance in this track, and so many characters! A whole crowd (including a grandson, his grandfather and a topless dancer) and Pink emerges as the creepy prince of this cheap party, having fun and not doing much. Is he just making a joke? Since the time I saw him live, doing his best oversized-white-glasses-Kurt-Cobain impersonation, I haven’t taken him seriously, who names his album ‘Pom Pom’ anyway?
