I like this period of the year for one good reason: summer is approaching. How do you notice? The lineups for the different summer festivals are announced one by one. It’s anticipation, warm feeling thinking about good times of long summer outdoor nights, listening to free music.
The series ‘Also I like to Rock’ is back at the Hammer museum every Thursday in July and the lineup has just been revealed.
July 7th Graffiti6 and Eastern Conference Champion
July 14th The Soft Pack and Hanni El Khatib
July 21st Grouplove and Milo Greene
July 28th The Henry Clay People and Lady Danville
A lot of these bands are local favorites and I have already seen 3 of them (The Soft Pack, Hanni El Khatib and Grouplove) but I have never seen The Henry Clay People who seems making quite a buzz these days.
The show is presented in partnership with LA radio KCRW fm (89.9) and curated by Buzz Bands L.A. The series is definitively a worth-see as it has always picked up the hot bands,… after all this is where I first saw bands like Saint Motel, Fitz and the Tantrums and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
