Lily Allen Offends Christians With A Nativity Scene

According to the Independent, English pop singer Lily Allen is in trouble, again! This time Christians are mad at her because she dared to dress up like the Virgin Mary on stage at London O2 Arena, wearing a blue sequinned party-dress… a Mary a bit on the slutty side if you want my opinion but I am not the one complaining! Plus she sat on a bed of hay, surrounded by backing dancers dressed as a Christmas cracker, a gift and a donkey, recreating a sort of nativity scene… I don’t get it, is she Mary or baby Jesus, or both? Well she called her last album Sheezus, so she had to act on it, after all Kanye West has brought the real Yeezus on stage.

However, this made Christian groups enraged, calling her ‘offensive, tasteless and disrespectful’. Member of Parliament Martin Vickers said: ‘This could be extremely offensive to many Christians. It is important that all religions are given the respect they deserve and I can certainly understand why some Christians believe their deeply held views are being squeezed out,’ while Stephen Green from campaign group Christian Voice told the Sunday Express: ‘It is tasteless, it is disrespectful and it is crass.’

And this is so laughable, if you are Christian and offended by this, you need your head to be examined. I am no fan of Lily but it’s obvious that she just wanted to have fun… The manger and the baby bottles were totally ridiculous but there was nothing in all this that could even pass for mildly provocative. First of all, each nativity scene in every church of the country should offend everyone because it’s already a parody by itself! A white baby Jesus (a guy of Arabic descent) with a blonde-hair mother (also Arabic) in a manger, is a scene that never existed to begin with, just do some research! The nativity story is not historically accurate experts say, and Jesus wasn’t even born at Christmas time, so how can you make fun of a made-up story? it’s beyond me.

Plus there are so many things in the world to be offended with before this one! I don’t understand why Christians are offended all the time, this constant victimization, this perpetual you-offended-me, you-hurt-my-feeling state of mind is totally tiresome and to quote Ricky Gervais, ‘Just because you’re offended, doesn’t mean you’re right’.
