Let’s Active: rock nyc Concert Picks Week Of January 19th, 2015

Louis C.K. At MSG
Louis C.K. At MSG

We take a break from our usual all rock shows all the time, to check out Louis C.K. at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night. $25 a tix including ALL TICKETMASTER CHARGES! For most bands $25 is the ticketmaster charges alone. I’d seen Louis C.K. at City Center (here) and thought he was hysterically funny and see no reason to expect less on this his third and final date at MSG and of his tour.

Monday – The Wombats – Rough Trade -Sure they peaked in 2008, but when your peak is “Kill The Director”, your second best becomes a must see.

Tuesday – Seether – Terminal 5 – And Papa Roach, for a remember the 00s special where bands were still moving from grunge to hard rock.

Tuesday – The Ting Tings – Bowery ballroom – Last years album sunk but they have at least one other chock filled of showstoppers

Wednesday – Savages – Mercury Lounge – I’ve been trying to see this band for years, got closed out of the CMJ gig a coupla years ago and it hasn’t happened since. I would want to see them if only for the brilliant 37 minute single “Words to The Blind”.

Wednesday – Four Year Strong – Irving Plaza – Tuneful hardcore we’ve loved here at rock nyc FOREVER

Thursday – Alient Ant Farm – The Studio At Webster Hall -They’ve been doing this for knocking on 20 years with no noticeable loss of quality, no noticeable improvement either…

Saturday – Bootsy Collins Rubber Band – BB Kings – I’d put him right after Larry Graham. If I had noticed it before I got the Louis CK ticket, I’d have gone to this one.
